Got a ‘tween? Me, too. Just one, thankfully. For now. But I’ve got three more up-and-comers which means many more milestones to celebrate — ‘tweenhood among them.

So when it comes to birthday parties, I’m generally into the home-hosted variety, as it is what I’ve done for nearly every one of my kids’ birthdays. I did, however, host an awesome Cineplex party in February, taking a party off-site for the first time, and it was a big hit.

So it goes without saying that I will consider moving my kids’ parties to a venue in the future, especially as they get older, rowdier and take up more space in my home. Girls included. Enter Glama Gal Tween Spa.

If you haven’t taken your tween daughter Glama Gals yet, let me tell you: she will, like, OMG totally love it! The only thing she will love more than spending one-on-one time there with you is hosting her friends for an afternoon of sweet pampering. (Sorry, Mom, but an afternoon with her gal pals for the win.)

Every Glama Gal experience begins with a sweet treat.

My youngest, who is six, attended a birthday party there in July and she still talks about it. “Mommy, when can we go back??” But she’s princessy that way. My most recent visit was an evening mini pampering session where I got to spend some rare one-on-one time with my eldest (who is 11). It also gave me an opportunity to chat with Newmarket’s franchise owner, Glam Boss, Elizabeth Buslovich and to soak in the whole Glama Gals experience.

The first thing you notice when you walk in the door is the sea of pink and glitter; sparkly chandeliers hang from the ceiling for a chic effect. Little girls will ooh and aah at all the glitz and glam. Guests are warmly welcomed, offered a bath robe and flip flops and ushered into the back to a beautifully-laid out table for a sweet treat before beginning their treatments.

Beyond the glitz, however, much thought has gone into the product lines that Glama Gals carries. For instance, they have an entire line of nail polish, Piggy Paint, that is non-toxic, odorless and kid-friendly which will appease concerned parents.

The Glama Gal experience goes beyond having one’s nails done, though. It is really all about the details: as girls make their way through, they will pass the Glama Gal Sisterhood Oath which reminds encourages them to “hold my head up high with a smile on my face, Remember my beauty is from within and that you cannot replace.”

The different stations are peppered with pink signs like “Be Fun Ave” and “Be Confident Pedi Ave”. Soaps and bath bombs abound, in shades of pastels that look good enough to eat, and for the slightly older crowd: tween-inspired cleansing products, made without harsh chemicals, line the white shelves. It is an atmosphere not only of sweetness and fun but of positivity and encouragement, and there’s something for everyone.

Glama Gal Tween Spa offers several different birthday party packages which cater to girls ages 6 and up. So, depending on the size of your party and your budget, Glama Gals can accommodate you. Young girls will giggle their way through a delightful afternoon manicure, pedicure and mini mist facial while the bubbly staff chatter away with them. Your daughter and her friends will leave feeling special and each will receive a little treat to take home.

The ambiance at Glama Gals is bright, cheery and inviting. If you have a young daughter aged 3-16, consider booking her next birthday party at a Glama Gal Tween Spa near you. Beyond that, there are activities and events for girls of all ages as well as mother-daughter specials year-round.
